Doyle and Alyssa
Lady Alyssa reacted to the mention of the Tryon family name.
And then—
“So… you came for me…”
She continued softly—wait a second.
“Huh? This voice… I feel like I’ve heard it somewhere before.”
It was my first time hearing Lady Alyssa’s voice, yet it felt familiar. We hadn’t exactly had a proper conversation before. Maybe just a few brief interactions, but… if it stuck in my memory, it must’ve been a rather impactful encounter.
While I was trying to trace that vague memory, Lord Doyle, standing in front of the door, seemed to recognize her voice immediately. He gave a deep nod, as if now certain, and then made a suggestion.
“It’s a special occasion. Would you dance with me at the ball?”
He called out gently.
Elina, for some reason wearing a proud expression, commented, “That definitely worked.”
Lady Alyssa’s response—
“… I’ll get ready right away. Would you mind waiting a little?”
“Of course. I’ll wait for you at the venue.”
With an incredibly natural flow, he secured the promise. Then, passing between Elina and me, he said cheerfully, “Well then, let’s go.”
“Senior just to confirm something.” Elina said.
“… What is it?”
“Lord Doyle’s younger than both of us, right?”
“Yeah. He’s like ten years younger than me.”
Saying it out loud just made it sting more.
I could excuse myself by saying I’m not used to dealing with women in situations like this, but… it still felt like he’d shown us just how much more mature he was as a person.
Just then, the elderly butler from earlier came over to us and said with a warm smile.
“The young master from the Tryon family is truly remarkable. I’m sure he’ll grow up to be a fine lord.”
He said it with a nod of approval.
—Though, there’s one thing I needed to correct.
“He’s already fulfilling his duties as a lord.”
“That’s right. He’s a fine lord who genuinely cares for his people.”
“What! My deepest apologies… Truly, that’s most impressive.”
At our words, the old butler and the other servants turned their eyes toward Lord Doyle’s back, their expressions filled with surprise and admiration.
“Is something wrong, you two?”
Lord Doyle, wondering why we weren’t catching up, looked back at us curiously, and we both ran up to him together, calling, “We’re back!”
“You both look really happy… did something happen?”
“Oh no, not really.”
“We were just thinking how great it is that you ended up stationed in the Abbott region.”
“Haha, you say the nicest things.”
Laughing together, we made our way toward the ballroom to wait for Lady Alyssa as she got ready.
