Invitation
A ball invitation arrived at the Tryon household.
But where exactly is this ball being held?
I remember Mr. Brough mentioning in a casual conversation before that hardly any nobles visit this remote Abbott region. So why would we suddenly receive an invitation? It seemed like a simple question, but it left me puzzled.
“The ones who invited us… are the McCreed family.”
““T-The McCreed family!?””
Both Elina and I raised our voices in shock at the completely unexpected name.
The McCreed family is a ducal house deeply connected to the royal family. I once guarded the castle during a meeting with a minister, and I still remember being in awe of the overwhelming aura they carried—the very definition of a powerful presence.
Now that I think about it, the McCreed family does host a grand ball once a year. It’s a lavish event where not only nobles but also key figures in the business world and representatives of major trading companies dealing with foreign nations are invited to their mansion.
“The McCreed family’s ball… That’s quite an incredible event to be invited to.”
It was Elina who spoke.
The way she said it—had she attended before?
“Wait, Elina, have you been to this ball?”
“I accompanied my father once as a guest. But I was still a child back then, so I just found it terribly boring.”
I tend to forget, but Elina is a lady from a distinguished family herself.
I’ve heard that many men in the Knights Order have their eyes on her, but since her father is none other than Vice-Commander Bellows, most hesitate to make a move. I hope that doesn’t delay her chances at marriage…
—Wait, I’m getting sidetracked.
“Does your family attend this ball every year?”
“No, I don’t recall Father ever being invited…”
“I’ve been working in this mansion for a long time, and this is the first time we’ve received an invitation to the ball.”
“That is rather strange.”
Why would the McCreed family invite the Tryon household, who have no ties or connections to them?
It feels like there’s something going on behind the scenes…
Oh, could it be that Elina and I are the reason we were invited?

“Exactly. Since it’s an invitation from a ducal house, I do intend to participate… but I’d like the two of you to accompany me, just in case.”

Regardless of the reason for the invitation, this is a great opportunity for the Tryon household. If this ball can help us establish connections that will contribute to Abbott’s development… there are many challenges ahead, but it’s definitely worth trying.
“Then, we, the servants, shall do our best to support the success of this ball.”
“First, we need to find suitable attire for the event.”
Mr. Brough and Marietta also seemed eager to ensure Lord Doyle’s big moment goes smoothly.
We may not be directly involved in the ball itself, but our job is to make sure Lord Doyle can attend without worries. Time to start preparing.
