A New Trouble?
When I returned to Curtis Village, what awaited me was a peaceful daily routine.
I’d wake early in the morning to help with the farm work, work at the outpost during the day, and go on patrol at night.
All in all, I was leading a fulfilling life.
—Ah, and there was one more important role I had.
“Take this!!”
“Don’t rely on brute strength, Parker. Watch your opponent more carefully.”
“U-Uhh…”
“Standing still like that leaves you wide open.”
“S-Shoot!?”
While working at the outpost, I also spent time teaching the village kids swordsmanship.
Curtis Village is a wonderful place, but it doesn’t have anyone particularly skilled in swordplay or magic, which must be frustrating for young people aspiring to follow that path.
I’m hopeless when it comes to magic, but now we have Amira, the genius magician girl from the prestigious Glaberson family, so the environment has improved considerably.
—Or so I thought, but apparently she’s planning to enroll in the academy next year, so her presence here is only temporary.
“Darn it! I was gonna beat you for sure today, Master!”
“No way, Parker.”
“Mr. Justin’s a Holy Knight, you know?”
“Even when a bunch of knights gang up on him, he takes them all out without breaking a sweat.”
“No, I’m not that strong.”
If I had to fight people like Gary or Miracca at the same time, it’d definitely be a struggle.
I was enjoying a pleasant afternoon with the kids when—
“Hm?”
I sensed something and turned around.
“Something wrong, Master?”
“… No, it seems we have a visitor.”
In the distance, a faint silhouette came into view.
It wasn’t the day for traveling merchants, so perhaps a traveler.
Since the person was alone, they probably weren’t a bandit.
More importantly, I didn’t sense any hostility.
If they were the kind of scoundrel up to no good, they’d give off a certain aura—but this person seemed to have simply come here on business.
Still, instead of heading for the Tryon estate—the local lord’s residence—they came directly to Curtis Village… which likely means they’re related to the Knights Order?
If it were something involving Vice-Commander Bellows, he’d normally send his familiar, Peter.
So maybe this is something else entirely.
Eventually, the visitor came close enough for me to see clearly.
It was a quiet-looking young woman with long black hair in a braid and round glasses.
“Oh? Would you happen to be Justin Foyle?”
“Y-Yeah, that’s me… and you are?”
“I’m Heather Tinbury. I teach at the Royal Academy.”
“… The Royal Academy?”
Great—another visitor from some place I barely understand.
