The Road Ahead
Even after making the long trip to the capital, I wasn’t able to uncover any decisive information about the relationship between Lillian and Wesley.
However, I did come away with one significant piece of new information—regarding the mana mines.
The Goethel Mana Mines, located in the Abbott region, is slated to be managed by the Tryon family, with the backing of the McCreed Duchy.
That seems to be the part the Glaberson family can’t accept.
It’s just a rumor at this point, but apparently several private discussions have already taken place between the two noble houses.
Naturally, none of that has reached the ears of the Tryon family.
And maybe—just maybe—that’s the real reason Lillian has seemed so hesitant about her engagement.
That thought dominated my mind the entire ride back.
If left alone, it could even lead to a rift between the Tryon and McCreed families, who’ve just recently begun to build a strong partnership.
This isn’t just a matter of political interests—it’s also about the future of two young nobles: Lord Doyle and Lady Alyssa.
They often talk and laugh together during their meetings on the mine development.
Their steward, Marietta, and the head butler, Brough, both seem to hope for something more between them.
But frankly, I think it’s only a matter of time.
The two of them don’t need schemes or meddling to bring them closer—they’re already walking that path on their own.
Still, if there’s any trouble between their houses, I want to be able to do something about it.
“... Even if it’s not the sort of thing a village patrol knight should be handling.”
But I do bear the title of Holy Knight.
I may be stationed at a rural outpost now, but I was once a seasoned front-line warrior.
I believe I can still be of use—to both Lord Doyle and Lady Alyssa.
To do that, I’ll need to talk with Amira first.
◇◇◇
After the long journey, I finally returned to Curtis Village.
The calm, familiar air instantly put me at ease.
Back at the station—
“I’m home.”
“Welcome back, Senior. You must be tired after your trip.”
The first to greet me was Elina.
I’ll have to explain everything to her—what I learned, and what we need to do next.
But for now… it looks like Amira isn’t around.
