Amira's Family
Well, I suppose it’s a stretch to say that spring has come for Parker just yet. The crucial point is that Amira herself doesn’t seem very interested in that kind of topic.
Even now, she’s happily chatting with Elina while nibbling on cookies baked by one of the neighborhood ladies, served as dessert after dinner.
It might be premature to say it’s hopeless, but at this rate, it seems like it’ll be quite a while before she even notices his feelings.
I was just thinking that as I took a sip of coffee when—
“Oh, by the way, my sister’s getting married soon~!”
“Pfft!?”
The shock of that bombshell made me spit out my coffee.
“Wha—!? M-Married!? Amira is!?”
“What are you talking about, Senior? She’s talking about her older sister.”
“Hehe, I’m still not old enough to get married yet, Mr. Justin.”
“O-oh, right.”
What am I getting flustered for? My thoughts were going completely off-track… I need to reflect on that.
—Wait a second.
“Amira, you have an older sister?”
“Yes. She’s working as the secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.”
“A minister’s secretary? That’s insanely elite!”
Elina was practically gushing, and Amira smiled as she watched her—
—but that smile seemed a little dimmer than usual.
Can’t blame her.
The Glaberson family, Amira’s household, is a prestigious family of mages.
And the truth is, even at her young age, Amira is already dipping her toes into a realm most ordinary magicians can never reach. She has a childish innocence fitting her age, but she’s also an incredibly formidable individual.
If her sister is from the same family, it wouldn’t be strange if we’d already heard rumors about her in the Royal Knights.
More importantly, the age gap is clearly significant. She’s got to be at least ten years older than Amira.
There might be some complicated family circumstances at play here.
—But asking her about that would be cruel.
Even now, she’s pretending to be calm, but it’s clear she’s forcing herself.
Elina doesn’t seem to notice, so I decided to subtly cover for her.
In any case, based on everything we’ve heard… it seems likely that Amira’s older sister didn’t have any talent for magic.
That must have made life in a magician family pretty difficult for her.
And this marriage—maybe it’s even an arranged one.
Amira’s a good girl, but noble families like that tend to do these things without batting an eye.
Well, at the very least, I’m relieved it wasn’t some tragic twist that would break Parker’s heart.
