Leader
Maryne left the kitchen and returned to her room.
The paper with her sales plan was still lying on the desk.
As she picked it up, she glanced back at Rhinos.
“Rhinos. I already have something I’d like to consult you about.”
“What is it?”
“I want you to find someone to act as the leader of the macaron sales business.”
The macaron sales plan.
Maryne was looking for someone who could oversee it.
Rhinos thought for a moment, then spoke.
“A leader, you say… in that case, shall I take the role?”
“No.”
Maryne shook her head firmly.
“I would like you to act as my aide, handling various duties, not just the macaron business. So I intend to entrust the leadership of the macaron venture to someone else.”
Rhinos possessed a wide range of abilities.
Economics, politics, education, security. Administrative skills.
That was why, rather than tying him down to a single business, she thought it better for him to act in a role that oversaw everything as a whole.
After thinking it over briefly, Rhinos spoke.
“Understood... In that case, there is one person who comes to mind.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Until recently, there was a family in this town that ran a merchant business, but… the father passed away, and the house fell into decline.”
“I see.”
“I have heard that the daughter who remains was thoroughly trained in the fundamentals of business by her father from a young age. I believe she is… around eighteen.”
Maryne’s eyes lit up.
“Could you bring this person to the mansion?”
“Understood. However, given her situation… I cannot be certain she will readily agree.”
There was no way to know whether she even wanted to go into business right now.
And even if she did, whether she would want to partner with an eight-year-old was highly questionable.
Maryne said:
“There’s no point worrying about that now. If we don’t start by meeting her, nothing will move forward.”
“You are quite right.”
Rhinos nodded.
Then he took his cloak, headed for the entrance, and turned back.
“Then I shall depart at once, Lady Maryne.”
“Yes, I’m counting on you, Rhinos. Please explain things well so that she’ll come.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Rhinos gave a bow and left the mansion.
Left behind, Maryne gazed out the window.
At her feet, Firuru let out a soft “meow.”
Maryne crouched down, picked Firuru up, and nuzzled her cheek against its fur as she murmured:
“This business, we’re absolutely going to make it succeed, Firuru.”
“Meow.”
As she felt its soft fur, Maryne quietly steeled her resolve.
