Break Time
Ding~ dong~

Just like at the start, the bell rang out.

“Ah, it’s break time. Vio, break time is about twenty minutes long. Make sure to use it for bathroom breaks and staying hydrated. You’re allowed to hydrate as needed in the training grounds, but in the classroom it’s generally not allowed. One bell means five minutes before the end, and the second bell means break time is over.”

The teacher explained various things about the break.
Now that I think about it, I started attending without even asking about the schedule or how long each class is.
I thought maybe they didn’t calculate time the same way, but since they use units like “20 minutes,” that means this world does have clocks.
And the person ringing the bell must be using one.

“Hmm? Where are you going?”

Just as I stood up, planning to use the bathroom during the break, Len grabbed my wrist.
When did I become so familiar to him!?

“Oh my, Len, it’s not good to steal away a girl’s break time.”

“My, he must’ve enjoyed that last class. It can’t be helped.”

“My, oh, my, there’s still the next class to come. Why not chat with us for a bit too, Vio?”

As I stood there unsure what to do, the three sheep sisters offered me a lifeline.
Len seemed to realize he was still holding my wrist and quickly let go in a fluster.
Then, noticing his older brother’s smirking gaze, his face turned bright red and he pretended to be asleep.

The three sisters were cheerfully going, “Oh dear, oh my.”
Now then, is it okay to go to the bathroom?

They beckoned me to follow, and when we left the classroom, they guided me to the restroom.
So this is what they call “going to the bathroom together,” huh?
The room with the toilets was divided between male and female, and once inside, I saw variously sized round lids lined up along the wall—probably due to all the different body sizes.
How exactly are these supposed to be used?

“Oh my, it was the right choice to bring her along after all.”

“My, at home you use your own, so she probably hasn’t seen these before.”

“My, oh my, goodness, I’m glad we brought you. Vio, here you pick the lid size that fits you and take it into a stall. The red doors are for larger people. People our size should use the green doors.”

They came with me just for my sake, didn’t they?
There were five stalls—two with red doors and three with green.
My dad’s bucket must be red-door sized, right?
No, seeing the size of those lids, there are probably people even larger than him.
And besides, my dad’s lid is just big enough to sit on, not because the bucket itself is big.
Mine is shorter in height, which is why I had a smaller one made.

Inside the green stall, there were two buckets of different heights.
Oh, I can choose even here.
They keep everything clean, and since there’s no drainage, they can probably manage it like this.

It was my first time using a toilet outside of home, but I managed without making a mess.
I’m truly grateful to the sheep sisters.

I don’t know about other countries, but in the Lizmoni Kingdom, all public restrooms supposedly use this system.
Nobles might not know since they apparently use portable toilets (jars), but for commoners and adventurers, this is standard knowledge taught at schools.

“Thank you, Mare, Mire, and Mure, for teaching me.”

“Oh my!”

“My!”

“My, oh my!”

“””How adorable~”””

They ruffled my hair and hugged me one by one.
Beastkin sure are big on physical affection.

When I returned to the classroom, it was almost empty—everyone must’ve gone for bathroom breaks.
While I was wondering about it, someone told me that the next class would be magic training at the training grounds.
Classes alternate between classroom lectures and either magic or physical training in the training grounds, with two sessions in the morning.
Today was language and writing class, so tomorrow will be arithmetic lecture.
They do lectures first because if they did physical or magic training first, students would overexert themselves and end up falling asleep during the following lecture.

The training grounds were on the opposite side of the classroom—down the stairs and to the left.
At the entrance, a woman stood with her back against the wall, arms crossed.

“Ah, there you are. I forgot to tell you before break, but you were with the three of them, huh?”

Kathe, the lizard beastkin girl, smiled in relief as she looked at me and the three sisters.
She probably meant to tell me about the classroom change.
Everyone here really is so kind.
