Homeroom Teacher and Academy Tour
After a short while,
“Okay everyone~! Your beautiful elf homeroom teacher is here~ Everyone, please take your seats~”
Long, loosely braided silver hair, blue-green eyes, the characteristic pointed ears of an elf. Tall and slender… or rather, only about 145 cm tall, dressed in gothic lolita fashion…
Our homeroom teacher was a gothic lolita elf.
“Well then, let’s start with self-introductions since this is our first day~ Okay, okay, okay, I’ll go first.”
“I’m Miss Lallanoa~ I’ll be teaching National History~ I’m an elf, and gloriously single~ If anyone has single male relatives or acquaintances, send them my way~”
“…………………………”
Wait, is it really okay for a teacher to use students as a marriage-hunting resource?
Also… elves live a long time, right? How old is she even?
“Alright, next up, everyone will introduce themselves~”
Starting from the window side, we introduced ourselves with our home territory, name, hobbies, and a short message. My turn steadily approached.
“I’m Zack from the Lampail territory. My hobby is reading. Um, I’m apprenticing as a servant for the lord’s family, so I commute to school. Nice to meet you all.”
“I-I-I’m B-B-Bell Barst… from… B-Barst territory… M-My hobby is… t-t-training… I-I’m really shy… b-but… p-please… b-be kind to me…”
“Alright, Bell, well done~”
Bell isn’t good at speaking in front of people, so her face was bright red and her eyes watery. A blushing beauty, how adorable!
Next is me.
“I’m Joan Lampail from the Lampail territory. My hobbies are training and cooking. Please feel free to call me Joan! My goal is to make 100 friends!!”
“What a lovely goal~”
There were 25 students in the class, roughly half boys and half girls. Of those, 15 were noble sons and daughters, including me.
Among the students, there were dwarves, half-elves, and other races. Seeing the variety of hair and eye colors really reminded me this is another world.
“Okay, lessons start tomorrow~ As for tomorrow’s schedule~…”
As she spoke, Miss Lallanoa pulled out a staff from somewhere.
Maybe she’s going to write on the board using magic?
Or maybe she’ll control the chalk with magic?
I watched in anticipation, but she simply attached the chalk to the tip of the staff and wrote the schedule on the blackboard.
… Seriously? That’s it?
So… she just couldn’t reach?
The schedule on the board showed that tomorrow would be almost entirely new student orientation. In the morning, explanations about classes. In the afternoon, senior students will explain the specialized courses available from fourth year onward. Apparently, the senior’s explanations always include some entertainment, so Miss Lallanoa smiled and told us to look forward to it.
“Alright, time for the academy tour~ Everyone, stay together~”
This time, she attached a cloth to the tip of her staff and waved it like a tour guide’s flag.
We followed Miss Lallanoa as she guided us around the faculty room, library, training grounds, and more.
The library was larger than I imagined, with towering bookshelves packed to the brim with books. They supposedly have all kinds of books, and I worried about how we’d ever find anything, but Miss Lallanoa explained that if you ask the librarian at the reception, they’ll find it for you.
The training grounds were an enormous field. It was so wide, I couldn’t see the far end.
It reminded me of Komazawa Park back in my previous life.
Apparently, the grounds were this vast because they’re shared by general classes for PE and martial arts, as well as the Knight and Magic Departments.
I wondered how such a large space could exist within the royal capital, but it turns out it’s created with spatial magic that separates it from ordinary space. That way, even if battle training or magic blasts occur, it won’t affect the city.
I wonder how that works?
Maybe I should ask Aunt Julie about it sometime.
While we were looking around the training grounds, the Knight Department was holding a mock battle.
They were using practice swords, but everyone looked serious.
As we watched,
“Oh my~? It looks like it’s a combined class for sixth and fourth-year students today~” Miss Lallanoa commented.
It appeared to be a knockout tournament with mixed teams of fourth and sixth-year students.
Knight Department… sixth and fourth-years… could it be…?
Ah, there they are!
“Zack, I see Brother Geneand Vee!”
“Eh? Where? … Ah, it’s true. And… looks like Young master Gene and Young master Vince are both completely unharmed…”
“Right… But there’s one more person… Huh? Hey, Bell, isn’t that…?”
“Eh? Ah… Eric… Brother?”
“That’s what I thought… Ah, looks like it’s over.”
“And the victors are… Gene, Eric, and Vince’s team!”
“““Alright!!”””
The three of them high-fived, clearly delighted.
Clap clap clap clap…
Bell, Zack, and I started clapping, and the other classmates followed suit.
The three winners noticed us. Though they looked slightly embarrassed by the first-year students’ applause, when they spotted us—
“Jo!?”
“Joan!?”
“Bell!?”
They said something to the Knight Department teacher and then ran over.
“Oh my~? Joan and Bell, you know them?” Miss Lallanoa asked.
“Yes, they’re my brother and cousin.”
“And… the other one… is… my… cousin…”
“I see. Hmm~… as students, the age gap is quite something, huh~?”
“…………”
“Jo, you saw that? I looked pretty cool, right?”
“Yes!”
“Joan, how about me?”
“Hmmm, Vee, you let your guard down at the end, didn’t you?”
“Tch, you noticed.”
“Yup… Show me your wrist.”
“Ah, my bad.”
He’d been hit on the wrist in the final exchange and was covering it. I placed my hand over it and cast First Aid.
“Whoa… Joan’s skill is awesome.”
“Ah, Young master Eric, it’s been a while.”
“Yeah, you’ve grown… and gotten even cuter… ow! That hurts, Bell!”
“Don’t you mess with my best friend!”
“Bell!? Did you just say ‘best friend’? You did, right? Yay!! Brother Gene, I got promoted to best friend~!”
Overjoyed, I hugged Brother Gene, who ruffled my hair.
“Ahaha, good for you. Young lady Bell, she’s a handful, but take care of my sister, alright?”
“Y-yes…”
“Okay~ 1-A students, time to move on~”
“Ah, see you later, Brother Gene, Vee. Young master Eric, see you too.”
I bowed politely and hurried after Miss Lallanoa.
