Interior Setup
I started thinking about the facilities inside the bathhouse.
First off—the bathtub.
Bigger’s better, right?
“What kind do you think would be good, Shiraishi-san?”
“Hmm, I think I like them big and spacious.”
“Got it. Then let’s go with a large one.”
“Yeah!”
Since our opinions matched, we decided to make a large tub.
Once the size was set, the next step was to build a step for getting into the bath.
“Hey, Shiraishi-san. Come take a look.”
“What is it?”
As soon as I called her over, she came running.
“What do you think of this step?”
“Eh? Looks fine to me.”
“Really? I feel like it might be better a little lower.”
“You think so?”
She tilted her head in doubt.
I decided to explain my reasoning.
“At this height, your legs’ll get tired pretty quickly.”
Once I said that, she seemed to understand.
“Ah, now that you mention it, that might be true…”
“Right? So I was thinking of lowering it a bit.”
When I suggested it, she accepted easily.
“Okay! Then let’s go with that plan!”
“Yeah, thanks.”
After that short exchange, we got back to work.
—A few days later.
At long last, the bathtub was finished.
“It’s done!!”
Shiraishi-san cheered in delight, while I muttered:
“Now we just need to bring in the hot spring water…”
“Yeah…”
We looked at each other as I said it.
“Well then, let’s go set it up right away.”
“Mm-hm!”
With her bright reply, we headed together to the hot spring source.
When we arrived, several of the village adults were already gathered.
“You’re here. Preparations are complete. Let’s begin.”
Under the village chief’s instructions, they got started.
Shiraishi-san and I stood off to the side so we wouldn’t be in the way.
Before long, the work was done—
“It’s finished.”
Someone called out.
When we went closer, a massive contraption was sitting there.
“So this is the pump?”
“Indeed. The hot spring water goes into this.”
“I see…”
As I admired it, Shiraishi-san stared in wide-eyed wonder.
“Wow! I’ve never seen anything like this before!”
“Me neither!”
The villagers said, all excited as well.
Watching that scene, I thought to myself:
(This world’s technology really is on another level…)
With everyone’s help, we funneled the hot spring water into the bathtub.
At last, the bathhouse was complete.
“It’s done!!”
Our voices rose in a cheer.
