As I approached the stall, I could smell the delicious aroma of crepes. When I looked at Cosette, her eyes were shining as if she wanted to eat it as soon as possible. I thought she was cute as I stood in front of the stall when I was greeted by a lady with a cheerful smile on her face.
“Welcome.”
“Excuse me, I would like three crepes…”
“Yes. What flavors would you like?”
I turned around to see what they wanted to eat.
Jed picked up Cosette to make it easier to look at the menu.
“Cosette, what flavor would you like?”
“N~ the chocolate and strawberry one!”
“Got it. What about you, Jed?”
“I will have the same as Cosette.”
I ordered two crepes with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and strawberries, and one crepe with bananas instead of strawberries.
I ordered the banana one so that Cosette could enjoy a different flavor.
Cosette was fascinated by the way the crepes were made.
“You seem fine with sweet things, Jed.”
“I have a sweet tooth. I told you when you gave me the cream buns, right?”
“I don’t think you did… but, thinking about it now, you seemed to like them very much.”
“Those were delicious…”
Because Jed seemed so entranced when he started remembering the cream buns, I started to want to eat those cream buns too.
I want to eat them when I come back someday.
“Here! It’s done!”
As I was remembering the taste of the cream buns, the auntie handed me the crepes.
Cosette was the only one who received it happily.
“Oh, yes. I added some toppings to your daughter’s crepe.”
“Eh? Thank you very much.”
“I’m jealous you have such a cool husband. He’s so different from mine.”
Huh? Isn’t that a strange misunderstanding?
Apparently, she thinks I’m here with my family.
It’s not true at all.
“You, the husband got a beautiful wife like this, you should take good care of her. Don’t make her cry!”
“What?”
Jed looked puzzled after being warned by the auntie.
Cosette was happily eating her crepe, as if she was not interested in the conversation.
When I looked up at Jed with the feeling that he should deny it, he gave me a big smile.
“Yes, of course.”
What? I almost let my voice leak out. Or maybe I did.
I stared at him, wondering why he wouldn’t deny it.
“Well then, let’s go, Elle.”
I had no idea what the smiling, happy Jed was thinking.
I sat down on a bench in the shade and glared at him.
“You made her have a strange misunderstanding.”
“She thought that Cosette was our daughter and offered a freebie. It’s hard to deny in that situation.”
Jed laughed and started eating his crepe.
I understand what he’s trying to say, but I don’t think lying is a good idea. I also started to eat my crepe, thinking that I was sorry to waste her concern and that arguing with Jed would only make me tired.
“Family, huh…”
I wondered how father and others were doing now.
I thought of the people far away, and then quickly stopped thinking about them.
Remembering would only make me feel worse.
“Big sister Elle’s crepe looks yummy too!”
Cosette, who noticed that my crepe was different from her own, looked up at me with expectant eyes.
“Do you want some of this?”
“Is that fine?”
“Of course. Here you go.”
“Thank you! Big sister Elle, you can have some of Cosette’s crepe too!”
When I took a bite of the crepe offered to me, the sweet and sour taste of strawberries spread in my mouth.
“Yeah, it’s delicious.”
“Big sister’s crepe is also yummy!”
“Fufu, indeed.”
As I was laughing with Cosette, my eyes met Jed’s, and he looked away.
Could it be…?
“Jed, do you want to try mine too?”
“W, well… I was thinking if it only was fine with you.”
“I don’t really mind, here.”
When I offered him the crepe, he gave me a surprised look.
I’m giving it to you because you said you wanted it.
“Is that alright? I mean, wouldn’t this count as an indirect kiss?”
“I don’t really mind.”
If I was a noble, I shouldn’t have done this, but I was just a commoner now. I have no problem with it.

Jed took a bite out of the crepe without hesitation.
I started feeling embarrassed when I saw him chewing with a bright red face.
“Thank you for the meal! It was delicious!”
The one who broke the strange atmosphere was Cosette, who was sitting between us.
She was smiling happily with cream all over her mouth, and smiles naturally floated on my and Jed’s faces.
“Thank you, Big sister Elle. It was yummy.”
“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
I wipe the cream from around Cosette’s mouth.
I ate up my own crepe as I watched her cheerfully thank me.
