Sebas’s Secret
I got permission to go to the forest.
Well, I say forest, but it’s basically our own garden.
Still, I was happy.
Yesss. I’ve gotta rack up some points with Papa for this.
I got so excited I ended up hugging his leg.
Papa looked pleased as he scooped me up.
“Alright, Kaito, I’ll give you a shoulder ride.”
“Yaaay!”
“Kaito, we’re going to the garden on my shoulders.”
With me perched on his shoulders, Papa walked down the hallway.
From up there, everything was waaay higher than my usual eye level. On a clear, sunny blue-sky day like today, the sky beyond the corridor windows felt just a little closer.
Just like that, we went outside into the garden, and near the forest he set me down.
The greenery was lush and vibrant. There was even a row of palm trees.

“Sebas,” Papa called out.
“Yes, Master,” he replied, appearing smoothly at his side.

You weren’t there a second ago, right?

“I’m thinking we’ll have lunch near the river in that forest. Sebas, make the preparations.”

He vanished, then returned in an instant, smiling pleasantly.

“Can we invite Ari and Mama too?”
“Ah, that was the plan. Ofufu course.”
What was that? (lol) Let’s pretend I didn’t hear it.
“Sebas, see to it.”
“Hey, Sebas, um, take me back to the house too.”
“As you wish. I shall invite Milady and Miss Ariana as well.”
“Now then, Young Master Kaito, shall we?”
I was lifted down from Papa’s shoulders and gathered into Sebas’s arms.

I forgot to blink and just stared at him.
