Maaya’s Wind Magic
Little by little, I’d been able to stay awake longer. I’d also started being able to speak just a little.

Ari, who’s only eleven months younger than me, is pretty precocious.

After our bath, Maaya, the attendant assigned exclusively to Ari since she was born, would towel-dry us. As a finishing touch, she used a gentle breeze to dry our hair.

Wind magic!

It was the first time I’d seen wind magic, and I got ridiculously excited. I dipped my hand into a cup of water, wet my still-short hair, and said,

“Ma~a blw wind!” (Maaya, blow wind!)
“Ma~a wind ai hed!” (Maaya, blow wind on my head!)

Maybe she understood what I was saying, because…

“Young Master Kaito, your head got all wet, didn’t it? Maaya will dry it for you!”

I splashed water onto my head with my wet hands, plop plop, and Maaya dried it for me.
We repeated that about ten times.
Wind is fun.

When the breeze hit my face, my breath stopped, and my hair streamed backward. I’d go “Nnngh~” and hold my breath, and after about three seconds Maaya would move the wind away. She was totally playing along!

The wind that hit my face would also hit Ari’s face beside me.

The two of us both went “Nnngh~” at the same time!

Fun, fun.
Ari was clapping her little hands and squealing in delight.
And that’s when it happened!

“Eek.”

Maaya’s gaze shifted past us to something behind.

I followed her line of sight, and there it was. A demon-faced Marle I had never seen before.

(Awkward.) I pretended I hadn’t noticed and turned back toward Maaya.

“Maaya, what are you doing with Young Master Kaito and Young Lady Ariana? It would be terrible if they caught a cold.”

Scolded by Marle, Maaya hurriedly apologized.

“Marle-sama, I’m so sorry. Young Master Kaito was having so much fun, I just…! And Young Lady Ariana was enjoying it too…”

“Young Master Kaito, Young Lady Ariana, that’s enough now.”

“Nyooooo!” (Don’t stoooop!)

“Well then, Young Master Kaito, no more water. I’ll just make some wind.”

“Kyahaha, ai!” I raised both hands high.

Huh? What’s wrong? Marle, Maaya, all the maids, why are they clasping their hands together and blushing? What happened?

“Ugh… Young Master Kaito is too cute.”
“Those round sparkling eyes, those plump cheeks, that perfect smile… precious.”
“Oh no! I can’t take it… there’s an angel here!”

Looks like everyone was completely smitten with my cuteness.

That was the day I first saw wind magic. After that, I’d wet my hair and Maaya would dry it with wind magic, we’d repeat it a couple of times every day.

It was basically our routine.

Ari, still only seven months old, seemed to love watching my hair flutter. She’d go “kyakya, kyakya” and laugh.
Ah, Ari, you’re so good at clapping your hands.

It was already autumn, but maybe summer was making a comeback, because it was a little hot that day.

Ari had gotten all excited watching me and had broken into a light sweat. Her fluffy hair stuck to her face.

With her own palm, she brushed the stray hair away in a smooth S-shaped motion.
My heart skipped.
Wait—did I just fall for my little sister?

No, no! She’s still a baby, but that gesture was super cute!

I’m only a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler, and she’s still just a seven-month-old baby, yet she’s already this charming
Cuteness overload! My heart’s pounding!!!

What if someone sees this?
With that level of cuteness and heart-pounding power, everyone’s going to fall in love with Ari, right?

I mean, I love Ari too! I love her so much that…

“Awi, luv.” (Ari, I love you.)

I hugged her and kissed her cheek.

“Aa~ au~ aa~ kyaha!”

I’m sure Ari loves me too.
She even kissed me back, with her drool-covered, super soggy mouth!!

Hmph! I’m the big brother. A little drool from my cute little sister is nothing!
… Wait. That drool stinks!

I collapsed on the spot. Ari crawled right on top of me.

Geh! The worse smell was coming from somewhere else.

Ari-chan, please don’t fart on my face!!
