The Secret Plan of the Principal Wife, the Mischief of the Sacred Spirit, and the Princess's Realization
As Kina’s due date approached in Akio’s town, the entire village was enveloped in a restless sense of anticipation, tinged with a slight undercurrent of tension. Leonora’s belly was growing day by day, and Sylvia, too, was quietly savoring the joy of impending motherhood, feeling the gentle yet certain movements of her baby as an elf. Ayane devotedly supported her sister-like wives, working alongside the midwife Martha to ensure everything was perfectly prepared for the upcoming day.
Meanwhile, Akio, while overjoyed at the prospect of his beloved wives becoming mothers one after another, was grappling with an increasingly vigorous vitality within himself—or, to put it plainly, an excess of sexual energy. Sylvia, though relatively stable in her mid-pregnancy, couldn’t be pushed too hard. Kina and Leonora were nearing their due dates, and with Ayane, there was an agreement in place.
(Ugh, this is… honestly, pretty tough…)
Akio tried to distract himself with nightly push-ups or excessive early-morning runs, but his overflowing energy showed no signs of subsiding.
The one who sensed Akio’s struggles most keenly was, unsurprisingly, his primary wife, Sylvia. In secret from the other wives, she quietly paid a visit to the Sacred Spirit residing in the village.
“Spirit-sama… I have a small matter to discuss regarding my husband, Akio…”
Upon hearing Sylvia’s explanation, the Sacred Spirit let out a mischievous chuckle.
“Hmm, the males of humankind are quite the troublesome creatures, aren’t they? But fear not, dear lady. I shall resolve this dilemma in a rather amusing way.”
True to her word, from that night onward, strange phenomena began to occur to Akio. In his dreams, he would stroll hand-in-hand with Sylvia through an endless field of beautiful flowers or experience the blissful sensation of soaring through the sky. Night after night, he was gifted with peaceful, joy-filled dreams. And when he awoke each morning, he felt inexplicably refreshed, his excess energy pleasantly subdued.
“… Somehow, I’ve been sleeping really well lately, and my body feels great…”
Akio found it curious but remained completely unaware of the Sacred Spirit’s secret plan (or perhaps her advanced mental interference in the form of “service in dreams”?). Sylvia, observing Akio’s condition, felt gratitude toward the Sacred Spirit while blushing slightly at her mischievous methods.
Finally, Kina’s labor began. Under Martha’s precise instructions, Ayane devotedly stayed by her side, while Sylvia helped ease the pain with medicinal herbs. A room in the central hall was filled with a sacred atmosphere of tension, anticipation, and the miracle of life’s birth.
Akio, unable to stay calm, paced anxiously outside the room. At that moment, Ayane noticed Celestina, who had been praying for Kina’s safety, suddenly pale.
“Celestina-sama? Are you alright? Your face…”
“Oh…? N-no, I’m fine… It’s just the atmosphere here, I suppose…”
Celestina’s words were vague, but beads of cold sweat glistened on her forehead. Martha, while tending to Kina, cast a glance at Celestina and let out a small gasp, as if realizing something.
A few hours later, with a vigorous cry, Kina safely gave birth to an adorable boy who bore the traits of a wolf beastkin. As the village erupted in celebration, Martha quietly pulled Akio and Sylvia aside, her expression serious.
“Chief-sama, My Lady… I hesitate to say this, but… Celestina-sama is also with a child. And it seems… she’s likely already reached the stable phase…”
““Ehh!?””
Akio and Sylvia’s shocked voices overlapped.
Celestina herself blinked in surprise at Martha’s words.
“Me… pregnant…? But I haven’t had any morning sickness, and my belly… it’s hardly…”
She looked down at her stomach in wonder. Indeed, compared to Sylvia or Leonora, the swell was barely noticeable, almost imperceptible beneath her usual loose clothing.
“Until Kina-sama’s delivery was safely completed, I couldn’t allow myself to burden Akio-sama. I vowed to stay by his side and support him until Kina-sama recovered,” she had said just days ago, diligently fulfilling her role as Akio’s nighttime companion with the same remarkable “awakening” she had shown before. She hadn’t the slightest inkling that a new life was already growing within her.
“… So, Celestina, without even realizing she was pregnant, was… handling my, uh, insatiable… needs?”
Akio shivered anew with both awe and deep gratitude for Celestina’s devotion—and for his own obliviousness.
With Kina’s delivery and the unexpected revelation of Celestina’s pregnancy, the town was swept up in an unprecedented wave of celebratory joy. And so, the situation Akio found both delightful and somewhat troubling (?) became reality: all his wives except Ayane were either pregnant or new mothers.
From atop the Tree of Life, the Sacred Spirit watched the scene, chuckling merrily. Her “mischief” might just continue for a while longer.
