A Miracle Beneath the Tree of Life: The Nursery of Love and Bonds
Sylvia’s labor grew steadily stronger, quiet yet unrelenting. Akio entrusted Leonora’s recovery to Ayane and Celestina, staying by Sylvia’s side and holding her cold hand tightly, whispering words of encouragement. At Sylvia’s request, the birth took place in a room of the central hall where the great Tree of Life could be seen clearly. Outside the window, its gentle light shimmered more softly than usual, as if the sacred tree itself were watching over her.

Midwife Martha calmly issued instructions while Ayane wiped Sylvia’s sweat and helped her drink herbal medicine. Kina, drawing on her own recent experience, grasped Sylvia’s other hand and cheered, “Hang in there, ma’am! You’ll see a cute little one soon—one that looks just like Hubby! Or maybe like you!”

Though elven childbirth followed the same basic process as a human’s, it carried an air of solemn divinity. Beads of sweat rolled down Sylvia’s brow; her face twisted in pain, yet her eyes shone with both maternal resolve and deep love for Akio. Akio—his black hair still glossy and untouched by a single strand of gray—held her hand tightly and murmured words of love.

“Sylvia, you can do this… I love you, and so does our child…!”

No one could tell how much time had passed when suddenly, the light of the Tree of Life filled the room, and outside the window, the sacred beasts whimpered softly in anxious anticipation.
Then—

“Waaah… waaah!”

A clear, strong cry rang through the room.

Martha wrapped the newborn tenderly in soft cloth and placed him into Sylvia’s arms. He had silvery hair and the gentle eyes of his father—a jewel of a baby boy.

“Akio… our beloved child…”

Tears streamed down Sylvia’s cheeks as she held her baby close. Akio too was overcome with emotion, unable to speak, as he embraced both mother and child. The room overflowed with warmth and holiness—the blessing of new life itself.

Both mother and child were healthy, and their safety brought relief and joy to the entire village. Leonora recovered steadily, and together with Kina, she began her new days of motherhood. Akio’s heart brimmed with renewed gratitude and love—not only for Sylvia but for all his wives: Kina, Leonora, and Celestina, whose belly was now gently rounding with new life. His affection for each of them did not waver; rather, it deepened day by day. He visited each in turn, helped with childcare, expressed his gratitude, and spent cherished nights together—always mindful of their recovery.

Meanwhile, the ongoing baby boom was not limited to Akio’s household. Among the refugee families as well, pregnancies and births continued to multiply. As village chief, Akio faced a new challenge: creating a nurturing environment for all the children.

“Ayane, Celestina,” he said, “I think it’s time we had a safe place where the little ones can grow and play—somewhere parents can leave them while they work. Not a school, but more like… a nursery.”

Ayane and Celestina exchanged glances, then nodded firmly.

“What a wonderful idea, Akio-sama!” Celestina said. “I’ve often thought the same while teaching the older children. The younger ones need a place of their own.”

“Yes,” Ayane agreed. “Let’s speak with Martha-san as well. We can create a safe, cheerful space for them—perhaps with help from experienced mothers and younger women who love children.”

And so, plans began for a new public facility: a nursery tentatively named “Tree of Life’s Budding Garden.” The proposed location lay between the central hall and the school, in a sunny spot where the gentle light of the Tree of Life filtered through the leaves.

Meanwhile, near the base of the Tree of Life—its radiance now brighter and more divine than ever—villagers occasionally saw the Spirit herself speaking with the sacred beasts, her expression grave.

(Hmm… The Tree of Life’s power is growing faster than I expected. Even the seed left by the forest’s guardian is stirring with strange energy. Could it be… that the very laws of this land are beginning to change…?)

Unseen by Akio and the others, the Sacred Spirit had sensed an immense shift in the balance of the forest and was quietly working with the sacred beasts to understand what it meant. Her thoughts, however, remained unspoken to all.

Between the joy of Sylvia’s birth, the hope of the coming nursery, and the mysterious stirrings sensed beneath the Tree of Life, Akio’s village stood at the threshold of a new era—an age where life, love, and the promise of the future intertwined in ever-deepening harmony.
