Sprouting Life and a Dining Revolution — The Livestock Care Team Is Born!
Led by the guidance of the sacred beasts, Forest Chickens, Rock Goats, and Forest Pigs had found their way into Akio’s village. These animals brought with them fresh breath of life and tremendous possibilities for food. With the bathhouse running smoothly and the purification system’s first plans underway, Akio declared the next step: forming a team dedicated to livestock care.
“Everyone, listen up! These animals are now precious companions of ours. To raise them healthy and make the most of their gifts, they need care from people with both knowledge and affection. From today, I’m founding the ‘Livestock Care and Management Team’!”
Before the gathered villagers in the central square, Akio’s strong words stirred excited murmurs of anticipation.
By unanimous voice, and at Akio and Sylvia’s recommendation, Ayane — who had eagerly volunteered from the beginning — was appointed leader.
“Ayane, your kindness, sense of responsibility, and above all, your love for animals make you the perfect leader. I’m counting on you.”
Blushing, Ayane straightened her back, the resolve of a first wife shining in her eyes.
“Yes, Akio-sama! I will do my utmost to live up to everyone’s expectations!”
Under her lead, the team came together. Kina, with her beastkin affinity and particular enthusiasm for training the Forest Pigs; several refugees experienced in animal care from childhood; and even Miko and Yume, joining as helpers. Alto and Kenta pitched in by repairing pens and crafting tools for feed. Sylvia pledged to support the team with her herbal knowledge, ensuring the animals’ health and preventing disease.
Their first tasks: building environments suited to each animal and securing stable feed. For the Forest Chickens, they set up a sunny coop with a wide run and a sand bath. For the Rock Goats, sturdy shelters and even a small rocky playground were prepared to mimic their natural terrain. The Forest Pigs, being powerful, required enclosures reinforced with iron under Dolgan’s guidance.
Weeks later, the team’s devotion bore fruit.
“Akio-sama! Sylvia-sama! Please, look at this!”
Ayane arrived at the central hall, her arms cradling a basket full of still-warm eggs. Smaller than Earth’s chicken eggs, their shells gleamed with a natural beauty and vibrant life force.
“This is incredible! Ayane, you’ve done splendidly!” Akio’s eyes sparkled with pride.
That evening, the first harvest graced their table: simple boiled eggs, fluffy omelets, and a hearty vegetable egg soup. The villagers’ eyes widened as they tasted the richness.
“Delicious…! To think we can eat something this nourishing every day!”
“With these eggs, our children will surely grow stronger!”
Ayane’s heart swelled with joy — their effort had blossomed into real smiles and sustenance for the village. Her cheeks glowed, both from the sense of achievement and from being praised by Akio.
Soon after, the goats’ milk too was flowing, providing vital nutrition for children, the sick, and the village as a whole. Sylvia began experimenting with it, creating medicinal cheeses and butter-like preserves, promising even more abundance at their tables.
With livestock joining their lives, Akio’s town was undergoing a true dietary revolution. These blessings went beyond filling bellies — they enriched hearts and renewed strength for daily toil. And under Ayane’s leadership, the Livestock Care Team’s challenge was only just beginning.
