Kitchen Garden
When they arrived at the village outskirts, there was a little field.
Both the length and width were about five meters. Various vegetables are growing in the small space.
“Mr. Cucumber, Mr. Eggplant, Ms. Tomato, Mr. Bean-san, Ms. Pumpkin…… there are so many~”
Among them, there were some vegetables Dirkhert hasn’t seen before.
While looking curiously, Meluerina informs him while gazing at the field.
“This must be a kitchen garden.”
“Kitchen garden?”
“It means growing vegetables you would eat at your home.”
“Hee~……”
When he pokes the delicious looking vegetables something suddenly pyon leaps in front of him.
“Whoa, what?”
Something that was resting on the leaves leaped off. When he looked at the thing that has jumped, he sees about 3cm in diameter small tree frog.
“It’s Mr. Frog!”
The moment Dirkhert discovered the frog, he stepped into the field in order to chase after it.
“Ah, Dirk-sama you can’t, wait a moment please!”
She said, but it was already too late. Dirkhert rapidly advances through the field. Furthermore, Chocola, Tart, and Pudding entered the field following after Dirkhert, she was troubled.
“Hey, Brother-in-law-sama, why were you not looking after Chocola, Pudding, and Tart!?”
“I tried to stop them, but I was too late. You too weren’t able to stop Dirk-sama.”
“T, that’s right, but…… I mean, it’s a frog……”
What to do? The two are troubled. Suddenly a voice speaks from behind them.
“You guys, do you have any business with my kitchen garden?”
We were most likely mistaken for thieves or something. The two timidly turn around.
When they do, there was a woman in her forties standing there.
She was one of the villagers they greeted right after entering the village.
“Oh my, you guys, are from this morning…… Meru and Vol was it?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Do you have any business with this little kitchen garden in the outskirts?”
“We have arrived at this field while exploring the village with Dirk-sama.”
“I don’t see the young master in question, though……”
“I’m terribly sorry, Dirk-sama entered the field chasing after a frog.”
The wild arrowhead suddenly returned.
“Vol, look, look! I caught Mr. Fro…………”
The vigor and cheerfulness he jumped out from the field with immediately disappeared. He instantly hides behind Meluerina.
“………… Who?”
He was certain it was only Meluerina and Volsung. He was not vigilant against an unknown person.
Dirkhert hid behind Meluerina, Chocola behind Dirkhert, Tart behind Chocola, Pudding behind Tart and the line was complete. Volsung had to hold back his laugh.
“She is this field’s owner, you know?”
After saying so, Meluerina pulls Dirkhert and the three animals hiding behind her in front.
“Listen well, Dirk-sama. You can’t selfishly enter other people’s fields. Chocola, Tart, and Pudding too, you can’t imitate everything Dirk-sama does.”
Hearing that, Dirkhert “I’m sorry……” apologizes to Meluerina and the woman. Following after him, Chocola, Tart, and Pudding lower their heads in apology.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s not as you did it to steal from me. Don’t worry about it.”
While saying that, the woman stoops down and gently strokes Dirkhert’s head.
To that lady’s action, Dirkhert stiffens for a moment, but it doesn’t seem like he disliked it as he let his head get stroked.
“So, what kind of frog have you caught?”
“Umm you see, it’s this child.”
Dirkhert presents the frog he caught with both of his hands.
Meluerina was certain he caught the tree frog that leaped in front of him a while ago, but what he presents is a big frog of about 10cm in diameter.
“Oh my, isn’t this a toad? You have caught a big one.”
“Huh, Dirk-sama, weren’t you chasing after a tree frog……?”
“Because there was a big frog-san I caught that.”
Amazing right? At the frog presented to Meluerina, her face turns blue, and she hides behind Volsung. She is apparently weak against frogs.
“T, that’s amazing, Dirk-sama…… But, it’s probably lonely so let’s release it……?”
At Meluerina’s words, Dirkhert “Yeah~” agrees and releases the frog back to the field.
Seeing that, Meluerina breathes out in relief.
“Chocola caught the first frog, you see.”
A small tree frog pokes out from Chocola’s hands.
The little tree frog leaps out of Chocola’s hands and lands on Meluerina’s clothes. It stays on her clothes without moving.
With tears in her eyes and a soundless shriek, Meluerina was frightened as one would expect.
Volsung took the tree frog from Meluerina and let it out into the fields in the same way Dirkhert did.
